I met a life coach recently who explained what he did.  It seems that so many people are over stressed, overwhelmed, overworked, and just over committed with their lives.  Will a life coach help them achieve this perfect balance or help nudge them in the right direction to have a successful life?

The life coach I met called me inquisitive.  I was interested in finding out if he considered his life good.  After all, it’s hard to take advice from a life coach who’s own life is out of order, right?  He said that yes, his life was good and that he, too, had a life coach because evidently, all life coaches have life coaches too.

At first, I felt the idea of someone else coaching your life seemed unnecessary and frivilous.  After all, didn’t most people just navigate through life on their own just fine before?  Then I gave this idea a second thought.  I already use my friends as life coaches everyday but they are biased and have quite a history with me.  Maybe a fresh pair of eyes could help guide me in the right direction.  Maybe an unbiased opinion would tell me things that I might not want to hear but that needed to be said.  Sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees and maybe a life coach can help you step back and evaluate what’s really happening if you’re not in the thick of it.

Whatever the case, I’m intrigued with this life coaching concept.  Is life coaching a good thing or completely unnecessary?  What’s your opinion?
