The phone call started with I hate to ask but I’d only call because it’s an emergency.  Of course at that point, my mind is racing — was it a car accident, motorcycle accident, is someone in his family is hurt, etc.?  Then Jason explains that he managed to get his 3 day old (new to him at least) dual sport stuck in the mud in a construction area by his home.  He’s fine but the bike is trapped in some kind of mud and quicksand concoction.  I scramble to make arrangements and grab the Jeep and a bag of tie downs.

I pick him up and see that Jason is covered in mud past his knees.  You couldn’t even see his boots anymore.  I thought it was odd that he didn’t bother to change or clean up until we go to the site.

Upon arrival, this is what I see.  So now I know why he didn’t change his clothes.

He thought I had a tow rope but in actuality, it was just a yellow colored tie down.

We wrestle with the handlebars for a while.  I put the Jeep in 4WD low gear.

After many snapped tie downs, we haul over to Wally World for a real tow rope.  He threads it through the rear wheel, I back up the Jeep, and finally the bike is free.

Amazingly, the only permanent damage was a broken kickstand.  The bike started up with a little coaxing and Jason rode it home.

And to imagine, all of this happened after I had already taken a shower and gotten ready for bed.  You never know what that next phone call will bring.  Life is full of adventures (AKA Classic C stories).
