Another dual sport adventure left me exhausted, bruised, and hurting but after it was all said and done, I had a really awesome time! The stuff that terrified me the first time wasn’t quite as bad the second time so at least I’m learning. Here’s where Brendan got a shot of me coming out of a crossing.
Before starting down the trails, we had some gardening to do. My assigned tool was the hatchet although that didn’t help much. I ended up more of a clean up person as the fellas pruned and sawed our path. Check out my gansta garderers and J the Transformer.
It was my first time riding wooded trails and they kicked my butt and my battery too. J also got quite the workout picking up my bike and all of the guys got some exercise bump starting my bike again and again. The worst was when I stalled out in the base of a rocky creek. Thank goodness my bike is only 238 pounds dry. There were definite moments of defeat in the woods but the highlight was chasing Todd as he ran ahead of me on foot. He kept me laughing the whole way!
Here are the bikes parked in the woods as we rested on a log and ate lunch.
It was good times for sure as we discussed Dr. Perky, saw some folks with shotguns, and speculated the contents of a bullet ridden freezer. I had a couple of Superman style flights over my handlebars which J classified as violent wrecks. After one of these exciting experiences, I discovered that I had shredded my pants and melted a hole in the other leg. I guess they’re not waterproof anymore.
Jason tears past this crossing. (6 sec)
Now, it’s Todd’s turn (6 sec).
Brendan and Jason go up the hill to fetch a pail of water. (26 sec)
"Every Saturday night, it’s the same thing… show me the dollars!" says Todd as he shakes his booty. (10 sec)
"Show him who’s daddy! Yee haw! Give him a kiss on the neck." Jason seems to enjoy riding pillion as he’s demonstrated on a couple of occasions and fortunately, I was there to capture these moments on video. I especially liked the part where J helps pull a stick out of his Brendan’s bike. (18 sec)
All in all, I’m enjoying my time at the playground. I’ve still got lots of practicing to do and I am continuing up the steep learning curve of the dirt world. The most exciting part of the day was riding 2up with Jason over some icy mud spots. Life is about experiences and that definitely ranked as one of the best!
I’m finally having the Thanksgiving that I’ve always wanted… possibly catered by Bojangle’s! It’s the small things in life that make a big impact.
In a way, I need a change
From this burnout scene
Another time, another town
Another everything
But it’s always back to you
