and again… and again… I think I spent more time getting in and out of a mud hole than riding. Another dual sport experience left the XT once again tore up and me, personally, beat up. I managed to get stuck under the bike once, stuck in a mud hole multiple times, and wreck on the same daggum (yes, I said daggum) hill twice. The shifter fell off, the forks are all crazy out of wack and twisted, but yes, the XT made it home.
We had an absolute blast! At one point, Brendan closed his eyes and put his hands over his face as I took the most squirrely serpentine line down a hill you’ve ever seen. Another time, Todd stood in front of me and said, "Aim for me!" which I did (but didn’t hit him). Of course, Jason stood idly by and continued to milk his "no kickstand" excuse for all it was worth. At the end of day, I have one very swollen arm, sore ankles, and more mud than you could shake a stick at… whatever that means. All in all, it was a good day’s fun and I can tell that I’ve got quite a bit of learning to do.
On another night, I got to enjoy a local Checkers game with my J and his pals. The last time I was in Canada visiting my most awesome Mark, the Carolinas were vying for the Stanley Cup. Being the most up to date current events buff that I am, I proudly told them that I had been to a Checkers game. Doh! Those darn Charletons… or is it Charlotteans? Either way, I got a local newspaper the next day and brushed up on my hockey news.
Watch Brendan as he conquers the hill that took me multiple tries. See the XT sitting in the wings.
The little playground for dual sports.
Brendan and Todd go up the big hill where the original Dumb and Dumber took place (according to them… I missed the action).
