It was my first time attending the Annual BMW Daniel Boone Rally sponsored by Carolinas BMW Motorcycle Owners Association. President Keith told us to attend and even bring a friend so I brought two!

Dan the Man Concrete decided to bring out the advertising machine, ahem… I mean dual sport.

Alex rode in comfort on the Gold Wing and his cousin Dennis brought a VTX.

John O, the rally coordinator, and Donna made registration a smooth process.

I liked all of the BMW signs pointing to the Vstrom in the background.

Here’s our non BMW crew from Charlotte: Suzuki GSXR and SV, Honda Gold Wing and VTX, and Yamaha TDM. Where was our Kawasaki today?

The KOA Kampgrounds were nice and clean with a local store.

Where else can you find goat food in an ice cream cup for only 25 cents?

Mark had perfect timing from Sparta. He was a gypsy loaded up with the essentials… 7up and flip flops!

We lucked out and got Bill K’s cabin last minute. Initially the cabin could look normal sized until you see it in comparison. However, it sure did beat sleeping outdoors especially since we didn’t have a lot of camping gear.

Here Goldilocks (AKA Mark) tries to decide which bed is too big, too small, and just right.

As always, I’m showing off my water tight box and shiny silver purse.

Dan talks to Don and el presidente Keith who (gasp!) attended a motorcycle rally in a car (and a PT cruiser at that!).

Yeah I’m jealous of the side racks on my bike’s twin. I’m digging that extra large windscreen too. Maybe it’s time for an upgrade!

Bikes, tents, and campers galore.

Vintage bikes made a showing too.

Dan decided to enjoy the rally to the fullest with a nap outside in the shade.

Mark and I toast to brittle and not the peanut kind.

Don said it was annual ride to the rally with Bonnie but she wouldn’t take a picture with him. Instead, I snapped Don’s photo with his friends from Mint Hill.

They promised us clean campgrounds and endless coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. They weren’t kidding!

Keith and Don are wheelin’ and dealin’.

Dan and I got in several photo shoot offs.

When the dinner bell rang, the crowd came running.

The shirt says, “ride, eat, drink, sleep… repeat.” Good stuff!

The goats were grazing and maybe waiting for some of that goat food from the store.

Mark braced himself with an adult beverage as he took the call about the sick Duc back at the shop.

Richard and Bill cleaned their plates.

The tables were full and the lines were long but the great service moved us through quickly.

The eats were worth the wait – tasty bbq pork, chicken, beans, and slaw.

What’s more American than riding motorcycles, eating bbq, and rows of banana pudding?

Bikes of all kind attended.

John O. spreads cheer with the megaphone.

Don’t I look like your typical BMW Rally attendant?

Mark mixes at the bar before filling the to-go cups.

Our neighbors enjoyed dinner back at the cabin.

Everyone gathered around for the raffle prizes.

This lady won a large pair of socks that she promptly traded for a beer.

Mark won a Moto GP DVD that he kindly shared with a younger friend.

This was my first time seeing a Buell with a transparent top.

We were impressed with Terry’s trailer set up and personal space tall enough for standing.

The campgrounds had some cool sites and bikes.

Our cabin had an interesting door opening system.

Dan won a Bob’s BMW hat. He told us up front that he always wins and he was right!

We had popcorn and endless drinks (especially hot chocolate!) thanks to this regular rally attendant.

Keith and Don bust out the donuts early.

Pete and Kenny G enjoy the late snack.

Mark and I do the same while Don gets caught eating a donut with Don.

The next morning, more donuts made an appearance.

Holy Batmobile side car!

The campers rise with the sun and get ready to head home after a really fun rally.

I really enjoyed this crew and look forward to more events and rides with them soon!
