I decide to take some yoga classes while I’m on vacation.  I find Corepower Yoga on the internet and I’m lucky to find the best yoga studio in the real OC.  One of the big differences between the west and east coast (or maybe just the southern states) is the pace of life.  I showed up a few minutes late for my anticipated class and am told no one is allowed in after class starts.  I’m used to our less strict (read: slacker) attitude back home where I’m always told that yoga is for our peace and relaxation not to add stress to our lives.  Being a few minutes late is okay on occasion.

My teacher Monica says sometimes the stars line up to force us to try something new.  I end up in Corepower’s originally created yoga sculpt class which incorporates yoga and hand weights.  In addition to taking their signature class, I take it with the most popular (read: most difficult) teacher on the extended class day.  I couldn’t have picked a harder, longer, or more challenging class if I tried.  Monica is right and I get to experience a class like none I’ve ever seen back home.  Thank goodness they have showers at the studio!

Day two is no different.  Somehow I managed to take the extended time top level core 3 yoga class which is beyond advanced to me.  I keep up somewhat despite my injuries.  However, when Monica does a one arm side crow balance, I sit and watch in awe.  I know my broken shoulder and leg will not be happy in this position.

Watch how easily and gracefully she gets into the pose!  No, she’s not breakdancing!

I notice all of the girls are wearing the same brand clothes in my class.  Evidently Lululemon is THE brand for yoga clothes.  I spend a bit of time in there trying on clothes in anticipation of the day Charlotte opens their own store.  Too bad it won’t be in my local mall.  It will give me an excuse to eat greasy fried pickles at the Penguin though.

Huntington Beach is Julie’s old stomping ground and one of Steve’s former homes.

I love the big palm trees and seeing everyone eat outside in the great weather.
