Passenger pegs – check!
Passenger seat – check!
Grab rail – check!
Passenger – no check because she’s busy taking the photo!
Dave arrives to lead the Triumph riders with his Triumph R1150ST… hmmm… I’ve never heard of such a thing.
Steve rolls in on the biggest Triumph I’ve seen – a Rocket. It’s great for 2up.
Cracker Barrel is the meeting spot. The turkey sausage biscuit is good but the mint Moon Pie is even better. It’s like eating Grasshopper cookies with a thin layer of marshmallow in between them. Fantastic! What will they think of next?
Does this fleece jacket stuffed in the back of my pants make my butt look fat?

Keith joins the crew with yet another BMW. I think the Triumph riders got their bikes mixed up.
Kevin saves the Triumph day rolling in on his anniversary edition Bonneville plus his new S. McQueen Triumph (with the original older logo) jacket from the 2010 apparel line. He is always so fashion forward!
There is some talk of Kevin weighing down his bike causing it to need some air. Fortunately, our well prepared BMW leader (following his Costco bought GPS) has a compressor with him.
Greg surprises the group with his always beautiful set up Bonneville. Retired life must be treating him well as he’s treating his bike very well!
Andy completes the group with his #44 bike.
We pit stop for gas.
They call me a Japanese tourist but look at these two Brits sporting cameras.
We get photo bombed by Kevin (barely)
Little Switzerland is the lunch spot.
Is there some butt scratching going on?
Roaring up 226A, we pass a BMW F800 and a Ducati Hypermotard. Of course we discover it’s John and Tom. They get there first and try to order lunch as they are pressed for time. Then the rest of our group shows up, orders all of our meals, and we get our food first. Sorry fellas!
We even have time to create a massively confusing situation to add a couple of extra people to our table.
1. Decide if we need an extra table
2. Decide if we’re just going to use extra chairs instead
3. Decide to move the table
4. Bring the table and extra bench to make it work
Cris orders HOT tea – English breakfast black tea. Surprise surprise.
This is what hungry people look like: Jason and John
Steve, Keith, and Dave
Greg, Andy, and Kevin
Tom, Cris, and me
Look at how we’re ALL riding Triumphs!
The quiche is always the way to go in Lil’ Swiss. Today’s quiche is no exception with chicken and jalapeno. It sounds like a strange quiche combo but it is delicious with some hot split pea soup (Greek style whatever that means) on a chilly day.
I want Keith’s metabolism as he scarfs down a big dessert and follows it up with more energy bars later in the day.
Jason thinks if he squeezes his eyes shut, he can make us all go away. Poof! We’re all still here!
Wine is life. What about riding with friends on a most beautiful day and cranking up the heated gear to feel warm and toasty? That’s a great life too!
Quoting Kevin’s summary of an awesome day:
We had a great days ride. Nine people eight bikes. Jason, C, Cris, Kevin plus the 4 triumph guys on 2 triumphs and 2 BMWS go figure who rode what with whom. Weather was great, road conditions very good. Rode 279 to Marion up 221 then 226A to Little Switzerland for lunch. Since 226 was so much fun rode it back down again then onto and around Lake James found our way across to old 18, Reepsville Road, 27 to the white water rafting center to brings us out to 485. Very little traffic all day except for a manure truck! Funniest moment of the day searching for a gas station on your GPS when you are next to a BP station! (he rode a BMW!)

Dear Caroleen,
Thank you for the great report and photos for yesterday’s Charlotte R.A.T.s ride. It’s good to see you out having fun on a bike, and I know for a fact that the Triumph guys loved having you along.
If I hadn’t had a wonderful day of convalescence yesterday, most of it in my hammock, I would be insanely jealous.
You, my dear, are truly one of God’s most precious gifts to this world!
‘m glad you all had fun, and look forward to being well enough to join you all next time.
Now……….
Let’s Ride!
