I decide to roll up on a solo voyage to the Dragon for the SV Rally. When I pulled up for a gas pit stop, I run into some folks that I know on the boards. A big hello to my fellow SV rider and his friend! I didn’t catch their real names but my fellow SV rider knew who I was. For the record, I pulled over to get gas and put on my Frog Toggs. I could see the rain in the horizon but couldn’t quite tell its location. Of course as I am sweltering in my suffocating Frog Toggs, I never see a drop of rain the rest of the way to my destination. This is how it always works.
Luckily I arrive on pool day! I can totally do pool days at a motorcycle rally. More on this photo later…
I guess this is why they got their nickname.
We have Mike (wacky woodchuck) and Derek (GM Slave) and Keith (orange lilly)
We have a few bikes stacked up for dinner. I missed the big picture with all of the SV’s. I think I missed the picture the other year too. Hmm… I think I was too busy playing in the pool : )
Dinner is very nice with some tasty eats.
Woody and his two helpers did an excellent job handing out prizes. I am originally slated to win some bars which I actually really needed. Instead I win some chain lube which my regular readers know I never use. I end up trading it for a bottle koozie which I of course can use immediately!
Derek gives a heart felt speech.
Two lucky ducks win red dragon hats.
This is a photo of the SV riders that have attended the rally every year. Of course, I could never be in a photo like this because I can barely make it for the weekend and that I always decide at the last minute.
This purty bike won the best looking bike contest.
Rich and Teri join the crew.
I basically get there just in time for Jason to pack up my bike.
I am surprised but both SV’s fit into Jason’t truck. The sacrifice is a cooler that won’t fit.
Derek and Teri pack up the trailer.
Mike gets the FZ1 packed up for the long journey home on two wheels.
Back to the photo from above. Jason and I originally met one night at Mac’s which led to us riding to the SV Rally together the next month. When we met, we didn’t know much more than each other’s first names and the fact that we lived three miles apart. The first full day at the rally was spent in the pool similar to this year. Not much has changed two years later.
Jason escorted me on my first time through the Dragon. We pit stop for a photo at the overlook.
I should have realized that Jason could deal with my Classic C stories when the first weekend we rode together, I locked my motorcycle key in the rear seat of my bike. Seriously?! Who locks their key under their seat? As the other SV’s rolled away, we were the only two left at the gas station. Jason managed to pull the rear seat latch from underneath and save the day!
A match made in primary colors. Where is the yellow one when you need it?
I guess it’s official… Facebook official. I love this guy!!
