This is how the story goes… I have a tree growing into my roof – literally lifting up the shingles.  My neighbor Charlie says he’ll help me cut down the branch and all I have to do is keep tension on the string so that when the branch falls, it won’t fall on the roof.  It turns out I have to leave the house so I ask Russell to go hold the string for Charlie.  It should only take a moment and then I leave.  This is the scene of Charlie and Russell debating the course of action.

When I return, I find that the tree has not only had one tiny branch cut off but large chunks of tree, branches, and piles of leaves are everywhere!

I discover Russell and Charlie drinking beer on the back patio.

The ladder is still out and the chainsaw is taking a break in the yard.

The two of them must be discussing the meaning of life and Charlie is drinking a canned beer in a Tervis Tumbler.

This is the original culprit.

It’s hard to believe they cut this much off and it still looks like so much is left.

Mr Gardening decides to pull out the edger and hedge trimmer.  He’s on a roll and can’t stop!  In fact, he’s on such a roll that he manages to edge over and cut through two extension cords!

The moral of the story is that sometimes pulling a string on a branch can turn into a whole day of yard work if you’re not careful!
