Looks like a cassette but really it’s an… …iPhone in disguise! Thanks to my BFF Chad for yet another amazing and thoughtful “add-on” gift. The only weird thing is when you’re holding this, it looks like you’re just staring a cassette. Problem: down toward the bottom of the bag, it’s hard to get to the [...]

I thought everything was going just swimmingly one bright summer day when my husband called to tell me he had some big news for our family when he got home from work that day. We were all excited to hear what he was going to come home and say. I had my speculations on what it would be and the kids had theirs. Mine was that he was getting a promotion. The kids thought he would be taking us all to Disney world. As it turns out we were all wrong. Well I was only half wrong. My husband did get a promotion, he was just promoted all the way to the other side of the country. We packed up our home and moved to Texas. Before we moved there my husband and I took a trip there to look around for a house to get before we officially moved to the area. Luckily our realtor told us that you can Shop Electricity Rates Texas style. I had no idea that it was even possible to shop rates!
… and boy are my arms tired! Yuk yuk yuk… I’ve been wanting to try this spot for a couple of years.
Camille’s Sidewalk Cafe is in a weird spot where you wouldn’t expect a lunch place. It’s located on the outskirts of downtown Charlotte but right across from the hospital.
The hospital part is very apparent as many patrons are strolling in scrubs.
My BFC – is that an accurate acronym? – and I enjoy a delicious meal of tomato soup and chicken salad on rye (me) and he enjoys chicken noodle and a tuna mix.
Regular readers – can you guess what is a BFC?
Do you have an Appetite for Destruction?Oh yeah… this is the LAST Charlotte show ever for Appetite for Destruction! Check out Poison and Brett Michaels. I didn’t realize these cover bands dressed up like the real deal but it sure is funny. We even have a harmonica solo. It makes me want to dig out my old harmonica and [...] |
There goes the neighborhoodI get ready to sell my Android, power it up, and see this. What is the target? I feel like I’m on an episode of Lost. Keep pushing the buttons but don’t turn off the target. Eventually, I just pull out the battery and all is well again. Picture this: you’re some nice young professionals [...] |

I <3 Unicorns in and staying classy in Wilmington, NCI know this looks like I photoshopped this onto the image but this is a clear sticker affixed firmly to the interior of our balcony door. Classic C story: I go to hang my purse on my very cool purple bling purse hook but when I go to hang it on the rail, the rail [...] |
What’s the MO in Wrightsville Beach? The nice thing about a weekend getaway is there is no schedule. As we’re rolling along to the beach, we stumble across a bookstore going out of business. I imagine small town bookstores are dying rapidly these days. Even the big giants like Borders can’t keep up with e-media and internet sellers like Amazon.com. The [...] |
OMG–which bathroom do I use?Julie and I enjoy our dinners out on coupons as a way to keep in touch. We get seated on the second floor with a nice view of the downstairs tables at 300 East. The food doesn’t disappoint here as she orders a bacon burger with pimento cheese and surprise! I order the steak [...] |

Russell’s birthday gift bonanza!Russell has quite the windfall of gifts for his birthday! Since he loves robots, he gets a Build your own Fast Frog kit. Because he’s not immune to getting the random gifts from my mom, a box arrives on his special day from Land’s End addressed to him. He opens the box and lo [...] |
REAL food by Chef BrendanReal carrots. Real carrots from the garden. Real BIG carrots from the garden. Notice the perspective next to the sink drain. I arrive to see that Brendan has quite the spread set up for cooking. He’s even using a cook book printed on real paper and bound into a real book. Brendan is [...] |
Happy birthday Dave! You know you share the same brain when you can have a text conversation that goes like this: Did the groundhog see his shadow? Did you get another year older? Did you finally learn Spanish using Rosetta Stone? Can I survive in the middle of nowhere Texas? I guess we’ll find out all these answers [...] |
Engineers have morals! We are inventors!Just because I’m not traveling, doesn’t mean I’m not experiencing culture. Here Lenny and Tory show off their dancing skills to some Lady Ga Ga songs on Dance Central 2 with XBOX Kinect. OK, so when you’re an engineer (not implying or eluding to the fact that I am one, or even the mechanical [...] |
