Real carrots. Real carrots from the garden. Real BIG carrots from the garden. Notice the perspective next to the sink drain. I arrive to see that Brendan has quite the spread set up for cooking. He’s even using a cook book printed on real paper and bound into a real book. Brendan is [...]
When it’s your birthday, you get to do whatever you want and you call all the shots. Here Russell is inspecting this Mitsubishi air conditioner. For all the time I talk about purses, Russell likes to talk about air conditioners.
Terrace Café has so many delicious choices, he doesn’t know what to choose!
We start off with fluffy biscuits and a jalapeno chili sauce for dipping. It sounds like a strange combo but it’s quite stunning.
The salads here are always yummy too!
My favorite dish is this scallop dish with lobster topping. It is every bit as amazing as you would think!
My fellow white looking Japanese tourist joins in my picture taking fun.
The waitress brings out a dessert tray with a stick. I can’t imagine a dessert tray is all that heavy so maybe this design is so that the desserts can be at table level?
This dessert is described as a giant Reese’s Cup – good stuff!
Russell has quite the windfall of gifts for his birthday!
Since he loves robots, he gets a Build your own Fast Frog kit.
Because he’s not immune to getting the random gifts from my mom, a box arrives on his special day from Land’s End addressed to him. He opens the box and lo and behold is an oversized black fleece jacket that resembles a Members Only jacket without actually being Members Only so it’s a knock off of a cliché jacket! Maybe he can wear it to the Breakfast Club ; )
I wish it was my birthday too so I can get all kinds of fun gifts!
Happy birthday Dave! You know you share the same brain when you can have a text conversation that goes like this: Did the groundhog see his shadow? Did you get another year older? Did you finally learn Spanish using Rosetta Stone? Can I survive in the middle of nowhere Texas? I guess we’ll find out all these answers [...] |
Engineers have morals! We are inventors!Just because I’m not traveling, doesn’t mean I’m not experiencing culture. Here Lenny and Tory show off their dancing skills to some Lady Ga Ga songs on Dance Central 2 with XBOX Kinect. OK, so when you’re an engineer (not implying or eluding to the fact that I am one, or even the mechanical [...] |

4 guys + 1 gal + 1 RV + 40 hours = lots of adventuresIt’s true. I put on a pair of jammies and hopped into an RV with four other guys for forty hours straight. Here Rick shows off his American sized travel cup. Dave stands watch with the big truck and big engine. This is what we call Mission Control where Rick is running two laptops, [...] |
Now we say goodbyeIt’s a good thing the RX has a luggage rack. The SUV is packed with five peeps and lots of stuff as we head to the casino. Richard tells Russell the food choices are something Asian and Fatburger. Russell says: oh she won’t like the Asian place, we’ll go to Fatburger. After all what Asian [...] |
Pack it up… pack it in… let me… well, you know the restPack it up… pack it in… let me begin… NO, these are NOT photos from A&E Hoarders TV show although I wonder if I can win something if I submit them? What’s up? When I don’t have my personal stylist available (for example, when I’m on vacation), I dress like this. I wake up. I [...] |
Browsing the gift shop at Chiriaco SummitRussell wakes up to tourists and families taking photos outside the RV because what starts out as an empty parking lot in the middle of the night turns out to be the middle of the parking lot at a museum. This town consists of a coffee and gift shop combo, gas station, post office, and [...] |
Son away at collegeThanks to Olga Quinn Since we got wild blue internet service I have been is way better touch with my son! He is a freshman in college about four hours away. What is it about a boy that doesn’t call his mom on the phone? Once I was able to get on the internet, I joined Facebook. [...] |
Fixing broken iPhone screens in the real OCLeonard says this store is heading towards failure. After all of these years, Charlotte finally gets not one but two American Apparel stores and now they’re pooping out. I guess ridiculously overpriced plain clothes that look vintage (but aren’t used) and retro don’t sell as well as they thought. I’ve got to admit this west coast [...] |
Neptune’s Net on the PCHThe next day starts with the sun shining on the RV and R1. Why is there this moss? Russell loves the beach and to think by himself on the rocks. More shots of our beach view. Before we get the big truck back on the road, Russell has to make sure all of the mirrors [...] |
Living the dream… in an RV by the beach…Imagine living in an RV parked right next to the beach. As soon as you step outside, there is nothing between you and the beach – no construction, no people, nothing. I meet Kristen and Brian. Today is Kristen’s first motorcycle ride as she rented a Honda Rebel 250 to cruise up and down the [...] |
Windpower and first visit to Fresh & EasyI love palm trees and here are palms galore! Now trade in palms for wind towers. I love this photo and I find it even more amazing that I’m able to shoot from a moving truck! Sometimes I get lucky with the composition. Wind towers everywhere! Russell and his passenger. We find a [...] |
